Andros island

Andros island belongs to the Cyclades island group. It isonly 2h from Athens. (Rafina port). Chora , the capital of the island, combines a mixture of Venetian, Byzantine & Ottoman architecture with beautiful neoclassical mansions & houses, paved streets, squares, picturesque alleys and churches. At the entrance of the Chora's harbour stands the impossing Tourlitis lighthouse, built on s rock. Nearby, you will see the remains of the 13th century Venetian castle, connected to Chora by an arched stone bridge. In the square facing the castle stands the statue of the"Unknown Sailor" honouring all the seamen who lost their lives in the sea. Panagia Thalassini, a small church, situated on a rock right by the sea, is well worth visited.
